I am looking for any info regarding the Black family from Dahlonega Georgia. They are/were Native Americans, formerly called BlackHawk. It was shortened to Black as a result of the bad treatment Indians received and the family wanted to be able to live without constant fear. FYI, I am proud, and blessed to have Native American blood. I wish I were full blooded, in fact. Anyway, I don't have a lot of information, but my Grandfather was Steve Black, wife Nora. He had brothers Sherman, Jim, Gordan, and sisters Vesta and Rena. There were more siblings, I'm just not able to remember the names. His children: Dennis, Josie, Barbara, Marilyn, Gene, Ann, Betty, Richard, Sandra, Sherry, Sheila, and one still born. They initially lived near Camp Wasiga in Dahlonega. This is near the army training camp up there.
Any info would be greatly appreciated. Email me at
God bless!
