Leland Black

STARKE-Leland Clair Black, Jr., 72, of Starke died Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at Shands University of Florida following an extended illness.

Born in Oil City, Pa., Mr. Black moved to Starke 17 years ago where he owned and operated Lee's Locksmith in Starke. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of VFW Post #56 and was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Black is survived by: his companion Georgia Roush of Starke; three daughters, Ann Blair of Conneaut Lake, Pa., Dianna Black of Porter, Texas and Anna Hartle of Waterloo, Iowa; two sons, Clayton Black of Cooperstown, Pa. and Lee Black of Oil City; two step-daughters, Marjorie Martin-Reese of Cooperstown and Joyce Rewerts of Stout, Iowa; three sisters, Dolores L. Buchok of Edison, N.J., Ruby L. Horn of Oil City and Winnie A. Black of Cleveland, Tenn.; a brother, Ralph D. Black Jr. of Ft. Myers; 15 grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph D. Black, Arthur L. Black and Robert W. Black.

Funeral services for Mr. Black will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2002, in the Chapel of Archie Tanner Funeral Home with Chaplain Bill Nix officiating with interment in Crosby Lake Cemetery. Archie Tanner Funeral Home of Starke is in charge of arrangements.
