Reply from Debbie Sandell: Janet Young Black was my great grandmother, born in Old Monkland about 1869. Her father was James Black, christened in Old Monkland 1839 and married to Janet Hamilton in Old Monkland 4 Sept 1868, and James' father was Archibald Black married to Janet Young on 2 May 1836 in Carnwath, Lanark. Don't know whether there's any connection here at all, but thought it might be worth a try.
