I still have "Longfellows Complete Works", printed in 1899 that belonged to Effie Black. This book was purchased 17 years ago at an estate sale in Palestine, Texas (price $1.00). The old book is dark blue with gold lettering on front and contains the inscription, " This book belongs to Effie Black, 1901.". Beneath that is a piece of dried heather, carefully sewn in to the page. Beside it is , " A piece of heather from bonnie Scotland".
The book was aparantly a gift sent to Effie from someone is Scotland.
I am still trying to find the family of this Effie Black so I can return it to them free of charge. It has other inscriptions and
clippings that may be of value to family members.
If you have a connection to Effie, please email me.
