Hi Greg;
Hugh Black is a brick wall for me also. You seem to have all the same info I do with a few exceptions. I have the wills of Hugh and Jeremiah. They are very dim but can make out names. Hugh's was signed "Hughy Black" in August court 1810. I am sure it was in Lincoln or now Green Co., KY Hugh's dau. Sarah m.29 Mar 1791 in Lincoln Co.KY.(Green Co now) to Rubin/Rueben Bird I have listings for two daus.for Sarah and Rueben. Jane and Margaret. Jane m. 20 Jan 1814 to Charles Brownfield, Margaret m. 23 May 1822 to William Murry/Murray
Jeremiah's will was signed by him 4 Feb 1833 and by the court 21 October 1833. He leaves all of his estate to his wife Sarah. Mentions Matilda Spurrier/Spencer (it looks more like Surgeon in the will) and Robert and 4 younger sons, Sanford Gamaliel, Charles and Franklin. I can also add Elizabeth to the list of their children. She m. Silas Graham 20 aug 1816 in green Co. She died bef. 1820
I claim to descend from son Robert but not exactly sure at this point. I just know that Robert,wife Ann Scott, Charles, wife Elizabeth Scott and Franklin, wife unknown, went to Missouri abt.1847. Franklin died in MO. and Robert, Charles and the Elmore clan all came to Calif. in 1859, settleing in Shasta, then Tehama and Glenn Co's. From here I can give you 7 generations of Blacks, but right now I would just like to crack old Hughy's line back a little farther.I would like very much to hear from you.
