I am seeking information on Samuel H. Black, born about 1840 in Alabama. His mother, Mary Polly ? and her husband ? Black lived in North Carolina until about 1836 when they moved to Lawrence County, Alabama. In the 1840 Census for Lawrence County, Mary is listed as Head of the Household. There are 4 males listed and 3 females including Mary. These children are believed to be Edward, John, Hampton, Alia, Mary(Daughter) and 1 unknown. The 1850 Census has Mary Langston listed as head of the household with the following children - Hampton Black age 22; Sarah Black age 15; Franky (f) Black age 13; Samuel Black age 10. The next record is the 1860 Census for Hempstead County, AR. Samuel Black age 21, is listed as head of the household with wife Hulda; mother Mary Langston age 60; sister Sarah Jane age 27. Any help on any of these people will be greatly appreciated. Johanne Moore
