Hi, Raymond, I am also descended from Blacks from the Cleveland County, NC area around Kings Mtn. My 4th great grandfather was William Black, who married Missina Ross McClain. They had children starting in 1818. William's brother, Samuel Black was two years younger, but married a lady named two different ladies and had kids by them. Perhaps your GGG Grandfather James could have been his son? Samuel would have been 22 the year of your James' birth and I believe it might be a possibility. Have you looked at the old marriage bonds out of NC for that era? It would give the name of James' parents if he was not 21 yet, as they had to stand up for him. Hope this helps. Judi
