--Mrs. Bertha M. LEONARD and infant daughter Kathleen June, died Saturday
afternoon at St. Josephs hospital in Ottumwa. Mrs. LEONARD was 23 years
old. Survivors are her husband, Willis W. LEONARD, her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. A. J. BLACK; brothers Ross and Ralph and a sister Gladys. Mrs. LEONARD
was born and grew up south east of Blakesburg and was one of the prominent
teachers of the county before her marriage, having taught two terms at Mr.
Carmel school south of Blakesburg and the pupils and patrons of the district
are bowed in grief over her passing. She was an estimable woman and a
splendid neighbor and a lover of her home. She resided in the Ash Grove
community. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. J. A. WORRELL of
Webster at the M.E. Church in Ash Grove Monday afternoon and interment was
made at the Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
