Hello all.....

I'm reposting my BLACK interest, as I figured that there are probably some
new listers out there.

I've been trying to track down information on Joseph W. BLACK for about 2
years now and have hit a road block within the last year.

Joseph W. BLACK was born abt. 1797 in (I believe PA). The problem is that he
was said to be adopted and took on the BLACK surname as a result. In
addition, it is said that the BLACK surname was originally SWARTZ.

I know that Joseph W (believe the W stands for Whitney) BLACK was in New York
in 1830 at which time he and his first wife gave birth to a child (I do not
believe he was their only child), Joseph Whitney BLACK.

Joseph W. BLACK moved to Michigan and was there in at least 1845 and until
his death 1870-1880.

His first wife was Nancy GARDNER. His second wife was Sarah E. DICKERSON.

He had the following children with Sarah:

Stephen
Alice
Matilda
David
Annie

They lived in the St. Joseph County area of Michigan and close proximity.

Thanks!

Colleen
