Hi, I do not think your Blacks and my Blacks are from the same base family. Our Thomas Black was born in 1744, and died in 1811, in York County, S.C., as did his son. His grandson, Pliny Sadler Black, lived in GA, then AL, and after the death of his first wife in 1838, he moved to TX, and was there applying for a land grant as early as Jan. 1840. He is listed on several censuses and died, ca. 1870. He married twice more after going to Texas, having one other child besides my great great grandfather, Herman Cain Black, who was born in AL in 1832. He is listed in the book"1840 Citizens of Texas". I believed he and his brother William applied for land grants in Harris Co. on 1-3-1840. His 2nd wife, Louisa Jones, arried him in Montgomery Co., TX in 1843. She died before 1847, when he married his third wife Mrs. Harriet Lott in Limestone Co., TX They had one child, Robert Black, b.in 1847. I have heard that Robert died in the Civil War, as did my own great great grandfa!
ther, but I have no real proof of Robert's date of death. Thsat is pretty much all of the Texas that the Blacks have in the family!
