I am very interested in this book, The Black Family of Augusta Co. VA. Tell me more about it...
Have you looked at a map of Augusta Co., VA in the early years (1750-1800) ? It extended west to the Mississippi River (present location of Illinois, etc.), south --well, 'way south of TN. My whole ancestry came from Augusta Co. VA: Blacks, McFarlanes, Campbells, Sullivans, O'Neals, etc. I wondered at this phenomena, then I saw the map. They weren't necessarily neighbors! Just a thought. Maps are available at the LDS libraries, and on-line at Ancestry and various places on the Internet. Check it out.
