Hi Lorna, Hope maybe that there may be a connection. I am working on the Black Line also. Not sure if its the same line. Do u have a Charles E. Black born about Apr 14 1861, he married a Elcy Mariah Canode in 1895. I believe they lived in Sinking Creek, either Craig or Giles Co. VA. Older family members say Charles was an orphan and raised by an Adkins family from the area. Also he supposely had an older brother John, whom he visited in Eagle Rock, Alleghany Co. when he was 16 yr. No one seems to know why Charles was orphaned. Im Trying to find out who Charles parent were. Looking thru the early 1800's censuses there were only a few Black families in the Botetourt, Craig, and Alleghany Co. areas, so I suspect he probably descended from one of them. Hope u man have sometime to tie him in. Sincerely, Linda
