Known Ancestry of Sarah Percy Black, wife of Charles Edward Spencer.

Born somewhere in Tennessee, about 1827, was one Andrew J. (Probably
Jackson) Black, who grew up to be a school teacher and a preacher. A. J.
Black married
Mahaley Blair in Benton County Alabama, in 1846. Mahaley was born in
Tennessee about 1824, and I'm still in the dark about her background:

There is no doubt that the Andrew J. Black and Mahaley Blair married in
Benton county are my ancestors, but there is an entry in the LDS IGI
indicating her maiden name was Whiteside. Mahaley was about 22 when she
married A. J., which was somewhat old for those
days when girls normally were married at 15. It's possible she was born
a Whiteside, married a Blair, and was a widow when she married A. J.
Black. Or--maybe I really don't have a clear idea, at all, on what her
maiden name really was...

Andrew J. Black and Mahaley had a daughter, Sarah Percy Black, born in
Alabama on December 20, 1847, and shortly thereafter they migrated to
Arkansas. They were in Big Rock, Pulaski County for the 1850 census, and
had moved to Clark County for the 1860 census. In 1870 they were in Hot
Springs
County. A. J. and Mahaley had another daughter, Alice Black, born in
Arkansas about 1867. I have not found any indication of what happened to AJ
and Mahaley after the 1870 census.

Sarah Percy Black married Charles Edward Spencer in Hot Springs, AL
4/26/1868, and about 1877 moved to Wise County, TX. They had the
following children:

George Alexander Whitfield Spencer 1869 AR
Octavia Lavatia Spencer 1870 AR
Belle Spencer 1872 AR
Mary Alice Spencer 1874 AR
Harriet Rita Maria Spencer 1876 AR
Walter Alonzo Spencer 1878, TX
Horace Edward Jackson SPencer, 1880, TX
Margaret Etta Spencer, 1883 TX
Pearlie Mae Spencer, 1885 TX
William Mitchell Spencer, 1887 TX
Frederick Henry SPencer, 1889, TX
Myrtle Glen Spencer, 1891, TX
