Message Board Post:

Am hoping to find any information at all about my 4th great grandmother Margaret Black who married John Gribble (b. abt. 1770 in Mecklenburg Co., NC). All I have so far for Margaret is her name.

Their daughter Ann Gribble (b. 1807 in Haywood Co., NC) married Thomas Jefferson Colvard/Calvert on 8 Dec 1827 in Haywood Co., NC. A lot of confusion surrounds this, because the same Thomas Jefferson Colvard is listed as having married a Jane "Jennie" Morgan on the same date and in the same county.

Does anyone have any information that could help me? Were these ancestors possibly of the Mormon faith? This would explain (to me anyway) a double marriage on the same date.

Thank you in advance,
Karen Trull Jordan
