This is a reply to Lisa Rivers query and others who may have Alabama
connections. Do you know any of Edward Black's siblings? Calvin Black bc.
1832, NC and d. 1869. He was the father of James Madison Black b. c. 1869
in Rowan Co., NC and who moved to Jacksonville, IL during 1891. According
to family stories, he "worked in the mines at Birmingham, AL while a very
young man". I have always thought that he must have had some family
connection there to have moved there in his teens.
