"G. Meade BLACK, 65, of 115 Beech Circle, Hellertown, died Saturday, Sept. 22, in his home.

He worked in the information services department at Bethlehem Steel Corp. for 36 years, retiring in 1992.

Born Jan. 31, 1936, in Sidman, Pa., he was a son of the late Walter W. and Lena MACKEL BLACK.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Bethlehem.

He was a past board member of Intermediate Unit 20 and the Bethlehem Area Vocational-Technical School. He was a past board member and president of the Saucon Valley School Board.

He was an active volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and a former member of the Saucon Valley Jaycees. He was active with the Hellertown Centennial Committee in 1972 and was a former board member of the 250th Anniversary Committee in Hellertown.

He was an avid bowler, golfer and fisherman.

He and his wife, the former Lois J. HANEY, observed their 45th wedding anniversary June 14.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Michele E. of Holland, Pa.; a son, Douglas M. of Dubuque, Iowa; a brother, Lynn of Dunnellon, Fla.; three sisters, Marion HARTEIS of York, Pa., Ardith SHERBINE of Apollo Beach, Fla., and Hazel HOUGHTON of Westlake, Ohio; and five grandchildren.

Three brothers, Wade, Keith and Neal; a sister, Lois ALEXANDER; and a granddaughter all died earlier.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the church, 2344 Center St., Bethlehem. Call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, 326 Main St., Hellertown.

Burial will be in Union Cemetery of Hellertown.

The family requests memorials to New Day Inc., 109 South St.,. Johnstown, Pa. or to the American Cancer Society."
