Hello Judy. Although your names do not look familiar, the fact that you said that you believe that they/Black are Cherokee is a common thread in my family is. I have heard this before. So, it appears that the Black suname runs in the Cherokee circles also. So, I'd do research on the Cherokee Nation as well. I'd look for the Cherokee Bands in KY and in Canada.
The Cherokees were once a part of the Iroquois Nation and some may have stayed up there with them in Canada and some moved South. I hope that this helps some.
