I had thought the Guion Black related to my Mary Black Pursley had left NC by 1800, but am truly unsure about this. I believe Mary's family lived in the counties of NC adjacent to York Co, SC.

I found a Deed of Abstracts of Tryon, Lincoln & Rutherford Co, NC 1769-1778: p 151; 8 Nov 1774; Gavin Black wit to land sale on land north side of Broad River, branch of Buffalo Creek. (Found a record in York Co, SC where Pursley's Run drained into North Buffalo (1759))

Tryon Co, NC created 23 Nov 1768, abolished 1779, favor of Rutherford & Lincoln Co.

For NC records you need to go to Raleigh. Most of the county records have been sent there.

There appears to have been several Guion Blacks, including one that was possibly Mary's father. Do you know anything about a Mary Black?
