Dear Joanne,

Sorry, but I haven't got the people you mentioned in any of my records. We must be related because you mentioned Visalia. I come down from Elmore Black who was born near Visalia in 1806 and died in Kenton Co. Ky. in 1885. He was the son of Joseph Black. Joseph had these children that I can remember: Elmore
Joseph Jr.
George
Stephen

I have a hunch that your family comes down from one of these children. My line of Black's split up after the Civil War and went in all directions. My immediate line ended up in Pendleton Co. Ky. where I live now. One son of Elmore went to Western Ky. near Paducah, another went to Indiana, and Elmore's daughters stayed in Kenton Co. Ky.
Would you have any idea what your William Black's father's name was? That might give us a clue.
I know that my Elmore Black's brother George stayed in Campbell Co. Ky. near Visalia and lived at a place known as Black's Hill which was located in between Grants Lick in Campbell Co. and Visalia in Kenton Co. I don't have much info on him but I do know that he stayed in the area.
