Here are a few ideas for you:

1. The names BLACK, DEAL and VESTAL are family names associated with an
area previously called "Haney's Corner" located in southern RIPLEY county,
Indiana. This place is now called "Vestal's Corner" and there are probably
three families who live in the area. If you look at a map, you'll see the
area is at the southern end of Ripley county which adjoins Jefferson county.
You may want to check into information in Ripley county.

2. My great-grandfather's name was Hugh Franklin Black (b. 1826). His
parents were Alexander Black (b. 1797 d. 1843) and Martha Crown.
Alexander's father was John Black. To my knowlege, my ancestor John Black
(b. 1750 VA) never lived in Indiana but remained in Bourbon county, Kentucky
until he died in 1830. The wife of my John Black was Emillia "Milly"
Norton.

3. My great-grandfather's sister, Ann E. Black, married Abram Deal on March
10, 1898 in Ripley County, Indiana. Ann was 65 at the time of her marriage
to Mr. Deal. This would probably indicate that he had been married
previously?...

4. Some research I have seen indicates that the John Black who married
Susan Deal was the son of Alexander Black. I have never seen any proof of
this and Alexander's will does not mention a son named John. The will does
mention his children: Hugh, Margaret, Ann, Amelia,
