We have Adelia Beatrice Jones who married William Henry Black when she was
but 16 years old....to care for his children as he traveled from Adams
county PA to Freeport, Ill about 1851. His first wife died in Adams county
in 1850. We have always suspected that her name was NOT Jones and could not
find any family that she belonged to. She consistently gives her birth date
as 31 Aug 1842 in Ohio and that her father was from Wales and that her
mother was born in VT. She died in Waddems township outside of Freeport,
Stephenson county, Illinois on 23 Nov 1832. We have no evidence that she
and Black had any children, but they did raise the child of one of William's
daughter's as their own. Just to confound the issue a bit!!
