Surname: Black, Howard, Scott, Kimball, Ayer, Homan, Weldon
-------------------------
I am looking for information on Jessie Black whom was my maternal g-grandfather.
Little is known about him except that he was married (2) to Mary Jane Ayer
(Still). They had one child which was my maternal grandmother, Alice Elizabeth
Black whom was born on December 12, 1904 in Lancaster SC. My grandmother
would never speak about her father except to say he mistreated her so I
have very little else to go on. I do know that at one time, but do not
know when, he was a policeman because my mother had a picture of him in
this uniform (she is now deceased). She always told me that Jessie Black
was a carpenter and that is why he moved so often. I did get my grandmother
to tell me once that she had several half siblings through Jesie Black..One
of which was a Henry Black. I found what appears to be his death record,
however, it states his father as "Doc" Black and his mother as unknown.
The Death record stated he was born in Bamberg and also has his place of
death as Bamberg, SC. A Henry Black was the informant in 1934. His age
would have put him being born approx 1865. Strangely, it shows him to be
a widow (Mary Jane did die in 1925),however, it listed his wife soley as
Alice which is my grandmother's name..Does anyone researching the Black
Surname in SC have any info that can connect with this..Thanks!!!!
