Shequita,

First, decide whether it's the name "BLACK" you want to know about, or if
it's about your family tree.

As for the last name BLACK, I have heard that it's Irish, and I have also
heard that it's German, originally "SWARTZ", changed to BLACK in the states.
My own, I believe to be Irish. Either way, it's probably good to assume you
need to know about your own roots. So.....

Find out as much as you can, as far back as you can from your living
relatives. In-laws are a good source of info, also, and neighbors, if you
can find them. Make sure you get dates and places where you can. Oh, and
when it's places, the county name is usually the best piece of info.

Do you know where your BLACKs resided?

Doni
