(The following facts relative to the late Moore Black were published in
Parker (Pa.,) Phoenix:)
Ulysses Moore Black, 69, died in his home in Leechburg, Monday, May 29,
1939 following a prolonged illness due to a heart condition.
Funeral services were held in the U.P. church in Leechburg at 1:00 o'clock
Thursday afternoon, conducted by his pastor, Rev. McCown. The interment
followed in the Presbyterian cemetery, this city, at 4 o'clock.
Mr. Black is survived by his wife, Margaret Preston Black, two sisters
and 1 brother -- Mrs. Samuel Nunamaker, this city; Mrs. Ella Stover, of
Elderado, Kansas and John Black, of Parkers Landing.
Moore Black was a son of Archibold R. Black and Barbara Everett Black [Other
sources identify her as Barbara Daubenspeck] and was born in Allegheny
township, Butler county, on November 11, 1869 and grew to manhood in this
vicinity. He was associated with the oil business practically during his
entire life as a driller. He was well known and highly regarded here and
throughout the oil fields of Pennsylvania and western states.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Black were members of the United Presbyterian church
in Leechburg and attended services when he was able and contributed liberally
toward the removal of the church debt.
