LAMAR CO, Alabama. RAYMOND BLACK (b.1903 in Lamar Co., Alabama) m LUELLA
SCARLETT in 1922, parents WILLIAM BURTON BLACK (b. 1875) and MELISSA JANE
NORTHAM COLWELL(b. 1875) in Lamar Co., Alabama. Parents SMITH BLACK (also
known as DS) (b. 1850, d. 1924) and WELTHY (sp?) GRAVES BLACK (b. 1852,
d. 1928). Smith's parents were JOSEPH BLACK (b. 1827?) and MARY DOSTER
BLACK (b. c. 1830). Welthy's parents were JOHN E. GRAVES and MARY DODD
GRAVES. Searching for purported Native American ancestry thru Melissa Jane
Northam (her mother?). Would appreciate any info esp. on William Burton
and Melissa Jane Northam if possible.
