Looking for information on Daniel Black who emigrated from Ireland approximately at the time of the Revolutionary War. He reportedly was taken prisoner aboard a British man of war ship enroute and held for 5 years. He supposedly escaped on Cuba while the boat was taking on supplies. He then made his way to America. It is reported he landed in Virginia. He made his way to Canonsburg, Washington County, PA. He married Mary (possible last name Smith, of Pa). They had nine children. The two I know are Henry G. Black born Dec 1812 in Canonsburg. Daniel Black, Jr. was born approximately 1816. The family remained in Canonsburg until the 1830's when the parents and at least the two children listed above migrated to Carrollton, Carroll County, Ohio. In 1840 Henry G. Black, a surveyor, went to what was to become Ballard County, KY. Daniel Black, Jr., a physician, went to Pendleton County, WV about 1846.

Any information on the other seven children of Daniel and Mary Black would be greatly appreciated.
