hello there norm,
i see that your black surname is from missouri. i have the black surname in
my family, and the first one states that he was from missouri. maybe there
is a connection. this is what i have so far:
(the marriage investigation report, very hard to read)
1851, Jan. 19, Socorro. Julián Blax (24), farmer, naive of the United
States, son of Petrs Pailry Blax and Selis Noran (both names very hard to
decipher) and Juana María Chávez (18), daughter of José Doroteo Chávez and
María Isabel Sedillo. Witnesses: Santiago Hartley (25), Noloen Blax (43),
both natives of the United States, farmers and married.
some names have been hispanicize, as Blax is Black, Julián is William,
Santiago is James. and people in the marriage investigations whom were
listed as native of the United States were people not native of New Mexico,
as the territory became part of the USA in 1847 or 1848 and the church was
very caution with outsiders.
in 1850, William Black was a solder in socorro county, listed as from
Missouri. William was born around the 1830's. hope you might have some
connection to my William Black. bye for now, sam-quito
