HI,
I have an ancestor by the name of John B. Black whom I have been unable to
definitively trace to earlier Blacks.
According to the 1870 census in Anderson Co. TX he was 18 years old and
born in Mississippi; he was living in the household of Lafayett Majors (25
years old from GA) and Martha Majors (21 years old and from AL). Also in
the household were Alonzo Black (15 from LA), Mary Black (14 from LA),
Elias? (5, from TX). Living next door was the Thomas Black family with
Thomas (58 from TN), Lydia (56 from SC), Nathaniel (23 from AL) and Amanda
(16 from TX).
John B. Black married Arminda Dellis in 1873; she was born 4 Mar 1856 in
TX. They had one child Josie Estill Black. By 1880 Arminda was married a
second time to a Dawson in Kaufman Co. TX. Apparently John B. Black had
died sometime before that, but I have been unable to find out when or where
he is buried.
I would like to know about John B. Black's parents and siblings, as well as
about what happened to him in the 1870s.
Bob
