Surname: Black, Dimmick
-------------------------

I am searching for the parents and siblings of Joseph Penn Black born around
1832 in IL. The 1870 Madison Co., IL census notes that his father was from
KY and mother from OH. I have no other info. on his parents. I know that
Joseph P. Black went to California in 1850 and made a small fortune in
gold. Joseph P. Black married Lucy Jane Dimmick in an Episcopalan ceremony
in January, 1854 in Lafayette Co. Wis. and he was noted as a farmer at
that time. By 1860 he was living in Jo Daviess Co., IL where is wife was
from and he was working as a traveling saleman for the Hapgood Plow Company
of Alton, IL. All my father told me about our family was that they were
Pennsylanna Dutch. Do you know if any of your Black surnames moved on to
IL.? Could there be a connection here? Please respond. Thank you Mary Black
