Do you know which part of Missouri your William Black was from? I have
a William A. Black from Lawrence Co,MO, but I don't think it would be this
one as he was on the 1850 census for Lawrence Co,MO along with his wife
and children.
I am wondering if it may have been a cousin, though, as I do know that
at least one Joe Black who was a cousin of my ggrandfather, William Perry
McCall, was attacked and killed by Indians about 50 miles west of El Paso,TX.
This info is on an autobiographical tape done by my grandfather, John William
McCall, who was about 8 or 9 years old when Joe was killed. The time frame
would have been about 1880-1884. Until I finished transcribing the tape
just recently, I did not know that any of my Black family had come to NM,
but my grandfather, John William McCall, lived in Dona Ana,Co,NM from 1884
to 1966.
