Hello all....

I'm still working on my needle in the haystack as I have came to a stand
still regarding my great-grandfather, Joseph W. BLACK b. abt. 1797 in PA. He
died 1870-1880.

I know that he was living in New York in 1830 at which time he and his wife
Nancy GARDNER had Joseph W. BLACK (AKA: Whit or Whitney) in March of 1830.

By checking with the census, I have concluded that he was in either
Groveland, Livingston County, New York during this time or Smithfield,
Madison County,
New York in 1830.

My records indicate that he came to St. Joseph County, Michigan in at least
1845. By 1850, he was married to Sarah E. DICKERSON b. 1826 in MA.

They had the following children:
Stephen
Matilda
David
Alice
Annie

I also know that he had at least one more child with Nancy GARDNER. The only
thing I know is that her married name was SMITH and that she lived in
Portland, Oregon in 1870.

Thanks!

Colleen
