I just paid a fortune for a copy of the Combined Index for all Black Entries
in the SC Department of Archives and History. The COM Index contains entries
for deeds, Memorials, Rev War records, judgments, plats, slave sales, etc.
(c. 1676-c.1912, Granville to Craven, a few out west, and parts of NC which
became SC) The COM Index contains a brief description of the record, date,
and names involved in the documents, and in the case of city Plats, the
addresses involved. It includes ordering number for each document. A copy of
the original record can then be ordered from the Archives.
I will be glad to do lookups for anyone searching for Black in SC.
