Carol Jean - where did you get the infomation that David Black was father of
Thomas Black, part of whose family was settled at Cherryville, Gaston Co,
NC. - and that he also had sons John & William???

I don't think Thomas Black died in what is now Gaston Co. However, since
Gaston Co was not created until 1846 from Lincoln Co. you should correct
your database to reflect the correct counties.

I believe the facts are that Thomas Black moved his family over to what is
now Rutherford (and maybe Burke) County and that he died in one of those
places. After he died, his widow and her son Ephraim Black returned to the
area of western Lincoln County that became the town of Cherryville, Gaston
Co.

I have always thought that Thomas Black was related to some of the Black
families in Mecklenburg Co, NC ----- but have no proof. There was a David
Black in Rowan Co, NC - a Revolutionary soldier - but due to his age, he
does not qualify as a parent of Thomas Black. David Black of Rowan Co, NC
moved to Alabama.

My Black family, headed by a William Black, lived in eastern Lincoln/ Gaston
Co along the Catawba River at Beatties Ford. I do not think the two
families are at all related. There was absolutely no interaction between
the two Black families.

You should subscribe to the mail list - . It is
possible someone monitoring that list may be able to offer you some
information.
