This obituary appeared recently in the Magnolia Banner News, Magnolia,
Columbia Co, AR. He was my ggrandmother's nephew.
Grady Black
Grady Black, 97, of Magnolia, formerly of Waldo, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000
in Magnolia Manor Nursing Home.
Born Oct. 13, 1902 in Waldo, he was the son of Samuel Lawrence and Olive
Watkins Black. He was a farmer and member of Shiloh Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eunice Rogers Black, former wife,
Allie Reeves Black, his parents, two sisters, Audrey Black and Ora Sanders,
and two brothers, Curtis Black and Sammy Black.
Survivors include a son, Bobby Black of Magnolia; a daughter, Wanda Henry of
Waldo; a sister, Essie Vickers of Texarkana, Texas; five grandchildren; 11
great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Service was 10 a.m. Monday at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Rev. Ed Phillips
officiating. Burial followed at Shiloh Cemetery with Lewis Funeral Home Inc.
in charge.
Pallbearers are Mike Henry, John Ed Gunnels, Sam Black, Ken Kelley, Ted
Chowdhury and Cloyd Cloud.
Visitation was from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.
