Hi,

I am looking for information on my 5th g-grandfather, Frederick BLACK
(Swartz/Schwartz) Sr., b. abt 1730-40 of Rockingham, VA. His wife's name was
Salome - last name unknown. Who were his parents? Any information on
Salome? When did he arrive in US? Frederick and Salome had 4 children:

1) Elizabeth
2) Henry
3) John BLACK, b. 12-13-1756 in Rockingham Co., VA. Died 5-15-1826 in
Preble Co., OH. Married Catherine HUFFMAN. Rockingham Co., VA records
states that he was an overseer for road work from April 1785 to April 1798.
4) Frederick BLACK, Jr. b. 11-3-1761 in Rockingham Co., VA. Died 5-1-1816
in Preble Co., OH. Married Anna Maria ARGABRIGHT 3-25-1786 in Rockingham,
VA.

A headstone in Roselawn Cemetery, Lewisburg, Harrison Twp., Preble Co., OH
reads as follows:
BLACK
"In memory of Frederick, died 1 May 1816, aged 54 yrs 5 mos 29 days."
"In memory of Anna Maria, wife of Frederick Black, born May the 10th A.D.
1765, died November the 12th 1840, aged 75 yrs 6 mos 2 days."

Frederick and Anna Maria had 8 children:

a) Susanna b. 7-14-1787 Rockingham, d. 4-25-1846 Preble Co. m. David LYON.
b) Elizabeth b. 10-4-1789 Rockingham, d. 6-13-1845 Darke Co., OH. m.
William HOLE.
c) Joseph b. 11-19-1793 Rockingham, d. 1-1-1841 Preble Co. m. Sarah Sally
HORN.
d) John Sr., b. 4-26-1796 Rockingham, d. 10-13-1869 Elkhart Co., IN. m.
Magdelena "Polly" FLEGLE.
e) Frederick b. 9-30-1798 Rockingham, d. 11-4-1877 Preble Co. m. Catherine
BROCK.
f) Sarah "Sally", b. 1802 Rockingham, d. ?. m. Samuel MOORE.
g) Peter, m. Sally BROCK.
h) Mary, m. Thomas OZIAS.

NOTE: I have a lot of information on John BLACK, Sr. (Child "d" above) and
Polly Flegle (Fleagle) and their descendants. If you need it, please let me
know.

If you can shed any light on the parentage, etc., of Frederick BLACK, Sr. b.
1730-1740 of Rockingham, VA, it would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!
