Hi All

Is there a Civil War Buff who can assist me in obtaining information on
the following soldier

Lewis Sibbert Black aged 15/16 ( My great Uncle) He ran away from home
in 1862 from Nottingham, England, sailed to the United Stated where he
joined the Union Army with the 97 New York Regiment, He was involved in
a few engagements, was wounded, captured by the Confederate Army.
imprisoned in Andersonville POW camp,, he died in prison in 1864.(
this information was obtained from family letters. Nothing official from
the US War Dept)

Is there any person who has lists of the Union Regiment personnel (
especially 97 New York,) or has information as to where I can obtain his
service records and the records where he is buried.

I have tried dozens of Civil War Web sites but with out success. If
there is any person who can help me with this matter I would be very
much obliged

Thanking you ahead of time John Black, Nanaimo, BC Canada
