Subject: [BLACK-L] Word of The Week ILLINOIS
Date: Sat, 23 Oct 1999 16:05:21 -0500 (CDT)
I love this word of the week. This will be interesting as I have been
doing a lot of research over the last few months regarding the surname
Black in IL
My specific area is CLARK COUNTY IL.
I am tracking a WILLIAM and SAMUEL BLACK who first appear in 1830
CRAWFORD COUNTY IL, along with one of Samuel's children ABRAHAM
BLACK(20-30) married with 1 child, and one of William's children(I
believe) REBECCA BLACK and her husband WILLIAM REESE.
By 1840 William, Samuel, and Abraham are located in CLARK CO. I believe
William and Rebecca Reese are in VIGO CO>IN during this time period.
By 1850 I cannot locate William, Samuel, or Abraham.
William and Rebecca Black Reese are in Reynolds County, MO along with
several cousin/sibling of Rebecca all of whom were married in CLARK CO.
IL
I know that some of the cousin/siblings remained in the Clark or COLE
Co. area because in 1830 William and Samuel each had about 7 children
each.
I have accumulated approximately 50 or more pages of census for the
Black surname for 1830-1870 for Sangamon, Clark, Cole and Crawford
County IL looking for connections(not all years for all counties)
My main connection is John Black born 1824 TN who married Tabitha(Abby)
Earls in 1842 in Clark County. They moved to Reynolds Co. by 1844.
Other names associated with the lines are SHAW, CLEMENTS, EARLS, and
BARTON.
