Subject: [BLACK-L] Robert, James, Thomas, and Samuel BLACK: Ireland to America 1700's
Date: Sat, 31 Jul 1999 22:14:19 EDT
I need info on Robert, James, Thomas, and Samuel BLACK, four Scottish
brothers, sons of Samuel and Agnes Glenn Black, who immigrated from Ireland
to the American colonies [PA>MD>NC>SC] before the Revolutionary War.
Robert BLACK married _____ RUSSELL, moved to SC, served in the 2nd South
Carolina Regiment, commanded by LtC. Francis Marion and died July 1, 1776
[but already had children, one named Samuel Black who migrated to Alabama,
married Isabella JOHNSON].
James BLACK (b. 1728) married Elizabeth ROGERS in MD, moved to
Mechlenberg/Cabarrus Co.NC, served in the Rev. War, and had at least 7
children (Thomas, Joseph, Robert, Samuel, John, Elizabeth, and William).
James's son Robert Black married Matilda ALEXANDER and their family moved to
Alabama.
I don't know anything about the other two brothers and their
descendants.
I would like to know from all those researching this family the names
of all four brothers' children, grandchildren, spouses, and known counties of
residence. I particularly would like to know if any of them were named HUGH
as a first or middle name. I know that most all these children and
grandchildren will have the same names, so this is very tricky! Thanks for
any help in solving this huge puzzle of same names.
