I just found out about this list and I'm excited! I'm trying to find
ancestors of my Black family.
My ggrandfather William Black was b. in Columbia Co. in 1844. Parents:
James Black and Mary Carter Black. Other siblings: James, died age 1 and
buried in Presbyterian Cemetery near Pottsgrove, PA., Brother David b. 1850
in Columbia Co. and Mary Ann b. 1855 in Dixon, Lee Co., IL. She married Sam
Heverlin and is buried in Jasper Co., Missouri as are the James and Mary
Carter Black mentioned above. Believe James' father was John and mother
Hannah, buried in Presbyterian Cemetery near Pottsgrove.
There are other Black names that seem to be connected but we can't find out
how. Nancy Black - marries a Carter (brother to Mary Carter Black above). A
Samuel Black. In Lee County IL there are several Blacks. Apparently there
was a mass migration from Northumberland co., PA to Dixon, Lee Co. IL.
I have never been able to locate David's place of death or burial. He lived
in Barton Co., Missouri where he was married and 4 children were born. One
is buried beside James and Mary Black in Jasper Co., MO.
Would love to know more about the Blacks in PA. There were some around Bucks
County.
Thanks!
Millie Conrad
