The following obituary appeared in "The Columbian" newspaper in
Vancouver, Washington today Wednesday
12 May 1999:

Gracie M. BLACK
Vancouver

Gracie M. Black, who managed several apartments, died in Meadow Glade
Manor in Battle Ground on Monday,
May 10,1999. She was 76.

Mrs. Black, who had lived in Vancouver since 1959, was born Aug 15, 1922,
in DeKalb, Texas.

Her husband, James, died in 1987.

Survivors include one stepdaughter, Clarice Shaw of Virginia, two
stepsons, Carnice of Ohio and Donald of Arkansas; one brother, George
Bailey of Dallas, one sister, Nellie Hooper of Texarkana, Texas; and
several grandchildren.

Mrs. Black was an office clerk for several small businesses, including
Lowden Printing.

She enjoyed cooking, working in her yard and traveling.

A graveside service will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at Evergreen Memorial
Gardens Cemetery. The casket will be open from
5 to 9 tonight at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society,
P.O.Box 371, Vancouver, WA 98666; or Hospice Southwest, P.O.Box 1600,
Vancouver, WA 98668.
