I have a Benton Black in my database. This could be a relative.
Benton Black was the son of Jefferson Black 1807-1880. Jefferson was a
brother of my Elizabeth Amanda Black who married James Givens Campbell.
In a letter I have form Cynthia Beard Black Campbell and John Berry Campbell
they
state that Benton Back's wife, Cynthia Susan Atkins died afther giving birth
to a little
girl, Louisa Alice. The letter also states that "Sister Mary Black" is
taking care of his family and that Louisa Alice is being taken are of by his
mother-in-law, Mrs. Adkinson.
Mary Black was a sister to Elizabeth Amanda Black Campbell and Cynthia Beard
Black Campbell.
Jefferson Black married twice. I don't have dates but he married first:
Louisa Todd and second Mary Massey. My source on this is a letter from Mrs.
Virgina Heaton Gordon in a letter sent me about 30 years ago.
It just struck me that this could be part of the same family. I have all
the siblings of Jefferson, if you are interested.

I should metion that this letter was written in 1863.
