Looking for info on Thomas Marion Black, b. 4/18/1858, d. 1/4/1935 in Anniston, Mississippi Co., MO. Family has always believed he was born in Butler Co., AL, but have not been able to confirm or
deny. There are a lot of Black's in AL, but have never been able to connect my Black with any in AL. The following is all the info I have from one of my aunts in regards to the Black side of my
family. All of the following will be written exactly as she wrote it to me.

Letter from one N.E. Black, Garland, Butler Co., AL to Thomas M. Black, my grandpa, informs Grandpa that "his mama wasn't well". Do not know if N.E. Black was his father or a brother. Sounds like
his father to me. Have no idea who N.E. Black married. There is NO date on this letter. Best as I can determine, brothers and sisters to Thomas Marion Black were as follows:

MARTHA - married man by name of CHILTON - lived in Kentucky
CORA - married man by name of GANOMS
JANE - lived in Louisville, Kentucky
CARRIE - married JAP BENNETT. Had a daughter named MARGARET who
married a man by name of LEIN, lived in Hunneville, Marion Co., MO
MAT - sister - died around year 1932. Could her name have been MATTIE?
JOHN - who was age 84 in 1935
BILL - who was age 64 in 1935
DAVE - who was age 62 in 1935
RUSOE - who was age 60 in 1935
J.H. - (known as Jim) who was age 66 in 1935

J.H. furnished some of this information in a letter to Mom, Edna N. (Black) White, dated August 26, 1935. Mom had written him after Thomas Marion and wife, Mary Lucretia Artman, had died. So these
brothers were living at that time. J.H. Black was living in Bluff Springs, Florida when he wrote the letter.

Thomas Marion Black married Mary Lucretia Artman on February 6, 1879. They moved to Missouri from Bullitt Co., Kentucky. Thomas Marion and Mary Lucretia floated on a raft down the Ohio River from
Louisville, KY - then on the Mississippi River as far as Wolf Island, MO. Besides the two of them on the raft, they had 3 children, some animals and personal belongings. They got off the raft at
Wolf Island and lived on the island for about a year before moving on to the mainland and settling near Anniston, MO, where they built a small house. This was the house where their daughter, Edna
Nora Black, b. 9/29/1897, d. 1/17/1966, was born. They did later build a bigger house where they lived the rest of their lives.

Children born to Thomas Marion Black and Mary Lucretia Artman:

RHETTA - died year 1899 - Married man last name of RHODES. Had children named
HATTIE, married Carl Barton; and MAUDE married (1) ? GLOVER and
(2) REBSTOCK. Hattie and Maude were raised by Thomas Marion and
Mary Lucretia following the death of their mother. All are now deceased.

EFFIE - died year 1916 - married IRA JONES. Children were VERNON, ROY, and
twin boys who died young. Vernon and Roy were also raised by Thomas and
Mary following the death of their mother. All are deceased.

KATIE - deceased. Buried in Blytheville, AR. Married EARL GRAHAM. Children
were LIBBY, ROBERTA, PEARL, EARLINE, HERBERT, HERSHEL,
and MILTON. Family lived in Blytheville, AR

MARTHA - b. 10/29/1889, d. 1969. Buried in Anniston, Mississippi Co., MO. Married
CLAUD SMITH. No children.

EDNA NORA - b. 9/29/1897, d. 1/17/1966. Married THOMAS BARBEE WHITE.
Children were BARBEE LARKIN (died infancy); VIRGINIA PEARL
(died infancy); ALMA RUTH d. 1990; JESSE THOMAS, AMANDA
LUCRETIA; MARION SAMUEL, GEORGE MILTON, JOHN
CLARENCE; WILLIAM BUCK; TERRY BRUCE d. 1998. Except as
noted, all children are still living as of this date.

LILLIE - d. bef. 1983, buried in Illinois. Married (1) EVERETT BROKAW and (2) ED
BRUNDERMAN. Children of Lillie and Everett Brokaw were: JOYCE;
SHIRLEY; JANET (deceased); CARMALETTA (died infancy); ROBERT
(deceased); ERVIN; JERRY; RICHARD; RAYMOND (deceased); GILBERT;
KENNETH; NORMAN; LESTER (deceased). No children born to Lillie and
Ed Brunderman.

HATTIE - died in infancy

JOHN WILLIAM - b. 8/23/1881, d. 9/1974 in Hickory Corners, MI. Married BESSIE
LACY. Children were: NEICE; MILDRED; MARY; JEWEL; TOM
(deceased); BERNARD (deceased); JOHN W. There may be more.

CLARENCE PRESTON - b. 10/18/1885, d. 1/3/1974 in Charleston, Mississippi Co., MO
Married (1) EHTEL ??? and (2) DOLLIE GRAHAM. Children
of Clarence and Dollie were: MARY LUCY; LOUISE; IDA
RUTH; CLARENCE P., JR.; ALLAN.

This is all the info I have on my Black family. Is there anyone out there who can help me find out more about Thomas Marion Black? Some of the info I have here may help someone else, I hope. Hope
someone can help me. Thanks.
