Just found this in our newspaper.

San Diego Union-Tribune Wednesday 21, 1999
Audrey Black, 90; Medical secretary, campaign aide to Maureen O'Connor

Audrey Black had no political experience or agenda when she joined
maureen O'Connor's first campaign for public office in 1971.

But as a role model and mentor, Mrs. Black offered invaluable support.

"Audrey was a mentor and friend to every young person she met," said
O'Connor, who was elected to the City Council in 1971 and served as mayor
from 1986 to 1992.

Mrs. Black, a retired medical secretary, died of heart failure yesterday
in ther College Area home. She was 90.

"Mother met Maureen when Maureen and I taught together at Rosary High
School," said Sister Jeannetter Black, one of Mrs. Black's two daughters.

"She was an office worker in each one of Maureen's political campaigns."

Born and raised in Tyndall, S.D., Mrs. Black attended business school in
Sioux Falls, S.D. She moved to San Diego in 1939 from Sioux City, Iowa,
and was employed during World War II at Mercy Hospital.

She specialized in insurance management at the hospital. After the war,
she worked as a medical secretary at various times to two San Diego
physicians, Rieta Hough and Esther Maurer, her daughter said.

Mrs. Black retired in 1974 after 35 years with Maurer, a general
practitioner with an office in Hillcrest.

In 1961, Mrs. Black and her husband H. Herbert Black, became charter
season ticket holders of the San Diego Chargers, and she was a die-hard
fan until the end, her daughter said.

Her husband, a former sales manager for Arden Farms, died in 1969.

Mrs. Black is survived by daughter, Barbara Lynch of Berkeley and Sister
Jeannette Black, a congregation sister of St. Joseph of Orange, of San
Diego.

Services are scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic
Church, Noth Park. A reception will follow at the church.

Donations are suggested to San Diego Hospice or St. Patrick's School,
North Park.

END

Hope this helps someone!!!!
