Looking for information on Thomas Marion Black, b. 4/18/1858, d. 1/4/1935. Married Mary Lucretia Artman, b. 1/6/1858, d. 1/20/1935. Not sure where Thomas Marion was born, but know that after he and
Mary Artman married, they floated a raft down the Ohio River from Louisville, KY, then on the Mississippi River as far as Wolf Island, MO. On the raft, they had 3 children, some animals, and personal
belongings. After about a year living on the island, they came to the mainland and settled near Anniston, Mississippi Co., MO. They are both buried at Anniston Cemetery, Anniston, MO. They had 9
children: Rhetta; Effie; Katie; Martha b. 10/29/1889, d. 1969; Edna Nora b. 9/29/1897, d. 1/17/1966 (my grandmother); Lillie; Hattie (died in infancy); John William b. 8/23/1881, d. 9/1974; and
Clarence Preston b. 10/18/1885, d. 1/3/1974. There is some supposition that Thomas Marion was born in Butler Co., AL, but have not been able to verify that. One of my aunts has a letter from an N.E.
Black from Garland, Butler Co., AL. The way the letter is written, it suggests that N.E. Black is Thomas Marion's father, but have not been able to verify this or find an N.E. Black in Alabama. Can
anyone help? Thanks. Jackie Email:
