I am looking for more info on the children of Fountain Black and Josephine Roy.
They married before 1874 somewhere in OR. Fountain gives different ages on
3 different censuses that I have, but I believe the 1860 that said he was
16 is accurate. His mother was Lisette Oyer who was the daughter of a
French Canadian trapper and a woman from either the Snake or Flathead
tribe. Because of animosity against natives in OR at the time, I believe
his age was changed so that he and his brother William W Black(1842-?) and
his sister Sarah Jane Black(b.1846) could be considered children of their
white step-mother, Mary Thackery. Lisette died shortly after Sarah's
birth. Their father Henry Black(1818-1904) lived in Forest Grove,
Washington Co, OR through the 1870 census. By 1880 he was living in
Dayton, Columbia Co, WA where he died. Fountain and his brother William
married sisters, Josephine Roy(b.1856-1896?) and Martha Ann Roy(1848-??).
One Roy researcher has Martha Ann's DOD as 1906. Another had no children
listed for her. In the 1870 OR mortality index I found
Martha Black Washington Co 19 F Jun MO consumption
William Black Washington Co 1 M Jan OR consumption
I think this is Martha Ann Roy and an infant son who died of TB. Can
anyone help on this point? In 1880 William W Black was living in Dairy
Creek, Washington Co, OR next to his father-in-law, Louis Roy. He is not
mentioned as a survivor in Henry Black's obituary, so I assume he died
before 1904.
Fountain was living in the town of Blalock, Umatilla Co, OR in 1880 with 3
children:
David Black age 6(1874)
Henry Black age 5(1875)
Eva Black age 1(1879)

Cruse Black 6/4/1881-Oct 1972 per SS death index died in Bozeman, MT
There was also a Blanche Black who died in the same town. Spouse?
Lillian Black
Daisy Black
Nellie Black
Edith Black
These girls were born after the 1880 census. From Henry Black's obituary,
Fountain Black lived in MT in 1904.

I found this interesting because the original family name of Josephine Roy
is LeRoy, and one of Josephine's brothers used that name instead of the
shortened form of Roy. Also the dates are consistant to be a child of
Fountain and Josephine.
Can anyone help connect this Nellie Arlene Black with the daughter of
Fountain Black?
