Mary Lou,
I seem to have trouble hooking more than 2 generations of Blacks from Virginia
together. The following query is based more on family tradition than on any
documents I have been able to find. None the less, since the names and times
are close, I thought I'd pass it on in case it either hits for you or triggers
some other set of relationships.
Samuel Black 1727-1782, married Rebecca Meeks abt 1742 in Augusta County,VA.
Samuel was the son of John Black and Isabel Brown. Rebecca was the daughter of
David Meeks. Children of Samuel and Rebecca include Margaret, William, John,
Samuel, James, Martha, Jean and Nancy who married Thomas McClung. Seeking
information on both the Black and Meeks families.

I am looking for information on the ancestors of James Black. He was born
about 1683 in Scotland and was possibly married to an Eleanor (Black). He
moved to Ireland about 1705 and I do not know what happened to him after that.
Two of his sons, John and Samuel, came to the USA about 1734 and eventually
settled in Virginia. My husband is descended from his son Samuel, who was a
Presbyterian minister. If anyone knows about the family of this James Black, I
would love to hear from you.
Thanks,
Mary Lou
