Subject: [BLACK-L] How I got started

I was introduced to family geneology at my husband's family reunion in 1977.
(Three years into our married life.) My husband's greataunt was taking the
opportunity to gather all the vital information on all descendants present. I
started thinking of how little I knew about my side of the family. I started
interviewing my grandparents and writing down all the personal family stories.
I was lucky that my husband's greataunt had documented all his family with
primary/secondary sources back to the 1790's. I could feel those stern faces
in the photo albums coming to life.
I am now lucky enough to have four sets of 4 & 5 generation photographs for
our family together on both sides. I feel I have instilled the important value
of family togetherness in my children from all my hard work. My three
daughters enjoy reading my stories/information and even go on trips with me to
help in the photography of ancestors' homesteads and cemeteries. Kat
