Subject: [BLACK-L] My reason for starting my Genealogy TRIP
Date: Sat, 24 Oct 1998 21:52:50 EDT
Five years ago tomorrow, Oct. 25, our only child, a son, died unexpectantly.
He was married but there were not children only plans.
Our son was a poet, (A realtor for income) He was well known in the Poetry
groups in Northern California and the coast of Oregon. Most of his work was
in his computer. We have published a couple of the books he had ready for
publication. WE want to publish much more of it. WE needed an introduction
about him>
Since we will have no descendents, our logical next thought was to see from
whence he came. And the search for ancesters was begun.
I am a 76 year old retired primary grade teacher, with experience in NM, and
several cities in California. My husband began his career as a Science
professor in H.S. and in the University. Later he became a pioneer in the
field of Special Education- was Director of Sp. Ed. From there he became
Superintendent of a Hospital School. When he retired (1985) he was an
administrative Consultant with the California State Department of Education
with contacts in almost every county in Ca.
Our son's Black(surname) heritage is Gene Black Jr. >>E. E.( Gene ) Black>>
Roy D Black>>>Harvey N. Black b. ARK>> Lewis (Louis) C. Black b. GA>>.Osborn
Black b. Va >>> David Black b. Ga.
Recently a member of the Black group contacted us. She is a descendent of
the sister of Lewis Black. This is very rewarding. We are still exchanging
information.
