Subject: [BLACK-L] How I got started in Genealogy
Date: Fri, 23 Oct 1998 23:07:27 EDT

I got started in Genealogy, when quite abruptly we lost our mother and then 4
years later our father. I had never thought about a family unit outside of my
immediate family, but when that tightly knit little family didn't have it's
leaders anymore, I became very interested in where we came from and who our
other family members were. What was it that made my parents persons they were?
It is a way for me to keep my parents with me. I have become closer to Aunts,
Uncles and cousins. They have different insights and many are helping me with
my family research, and some just think I am a little off my rocker.
I never paid much attention to history as a student, but I find it very
interesting now when relating it with an ancestor.
I will be hooked on Genealogy for the rest of my life, what a great way to
keep the mind active.
