My uncommon name is Malana. She is my gggm. Her full name was Malana Jane
Black. She was born somewhere in AR on 8 January 1835, married Oliver
McDonald Reece on 8 Nov 1853. They had several children in AR and then
moved to Nachitoches Parish, LA. by 1860. I found them living a couple of
houses down from Benjamin Black. I have talked with one of his
descendants, but Malana has not been located as of this time.
She lived in Nachitoches until Oliver came back from the Civil War. About
1871, they moved to Milam Co., TX. Other Black relatives lived there-(the
info I get from Benjamin's descendant). But Oliver's uncle lived there
too, and they moved next door to him.
They had children in LA and in TX---all to my knowledge carry the Reece
family Christian names. Malana died in Milam Co., on 2 July 1894 and is
buried in a cemetery there by her husband, Oliver, who died on 10 March
1899.
All deeds and legal papers refer to his uncle and uncle's children as well
as their children and grandchildren.

I would be so grateful if anyone has any information about Malana Jane.
She may have been called Jane, but I have no real proof of it. The only
census information I found had a Jane in the family. I cannot be sure that
is her. I have found no Malana Jane or M J, etc in census records for AR
for 1850.
